At a time when game prices are increasingly debated, subscriptions are often an alternative to enjoying a large catalog at a lower cost. On PC, gamers mainly have the choice between Prime Gaming and Xbox Game Pass, although the latter is also available on Series X|S. On the PlayStation side, it's PS Plus Extra and its other plans that should be considered. However, this type of game library is constantly playing musical chairs, so much so that some titles leave it while others arrive.
Which games could leave PS Plus Extra in May 2025?
Since Sony redesigned its video game subscription service, PS Plus provides access to a catalogue of on-demand games via the Extra and Premium plans. So, dozens of titles are waiting for you and are renewed every month to bring a regular breath of fresh air. This also means that some have to go.
In fact, that's how it works in this field. Old games leave to make way for new ones. We already know which ones will leave on April 15, but those that will follow in mid-May could already have been revealed. What's more, there are some big names in the lot, like the cult classic GTA 5, which generally leaves after 6 months. This would also be an opportunity to bring it back in the future in its "Enhanced" version.
Other big licenses are said to be about to leave, such as Dishonored, Watch Dogs 1 and Legion, or even Wolfenstein. In most cases, this coincides with the end of a free offer on other platforms. For example, Crime Boss Rockay City is about to leave PS Plus, as is Prime Gaming. Conversely, we might be saying goodbye to the very nice Cat Quest 1 and 2, which are currently available via the Epic Games Store.
Finally, the upcoming arrival of Days Gone Remastered could push the original game towards the PS Plus Extra release. Similarly, the sequels to Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding are expected to have the same effect on the first games. Another PlayStation exclusive could also be leaving. We're thinking of Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart, which will reach 2 years in the catalog, and in general we know what that means...
The probable releases of PlayStation Plus Extra in May 2025
Doing the math, we would arrive at at least 14 games likely to be released from PS Plus Extra (and therefore Premium) in May 2025. It is not certain that all of them will end up disappearing from the catalog; we can always have surprises. In any case, this already gives you an idea of the titles you might want to finish first!
