Rise of the Ronin: It's a disaster on PC, the studio reacts

We're used to it now: PlayStation exclusives are doomed to a second life on PC. We saw it again last week with the arrival of The Last of Us 2 Remastered. But this is just one example among all those that are coming out at a regular pace. Moreover, even second-party productions are following the same path, like Rise of the Ronin. However, moving from one platform to another isn't always easy. Team Ninja Studio decides to speak out.

Rise of the Ronin, a rocky road to PC

In 2024, Team Ninja finally released its new action-RPG: Rise of the Ronin. Despite promising trailers for this title putting us in the shoes of a samurai at the end of the Edo period, it was not a huge success. Critics were mixed, although they praised some of the game's achievements. Certainly wanting to give its title a second chance, publisher Koei Tecmo has encouraged a PC port for this year. But, here again, things are getting complicated.

The development teams have indeed posted a message on social networks to apologize for the problems encountered on the PC version of the game. For once, the port of a PlayStation exclusive has turned out to be a technical disaster.

We are investigating reported issues for the Steam version of « Rise of the Ronin ».

Currently, we are preparing a patch, which will be released later. on April 10th (Thursday), in order to correct or improve some of these issues.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced.

In fact, the overall ratings are currently set to "average." When you read the players' comments, you understand that there is indeed a problem. Many people complain about poor optimization, sometimes not being able to play the game at all. Graphical bugs, framerate issues, slowdowns, even freezes, crashes... the list of handicaps is substantial.

Some are even formidable in their criticism, emphasizing that these drawbacks are "simply unjustifiable given the quality of the graphics." It must be said that even powerful configurations struggle to run the game properly. Failing that, several users are already announcing that they will wait until Rise of the Ronin receives several patches before relaunching it.

Fortunately, Team Ninja has heard the grumbling. The studio is therefore planning a major fix for next Thursday. Exactly one week after its launch, the Rise of the Ronin port will attempt to rectify the situation by addressing its main optimization issues. Fingers crossed that players can enjoy this historical adventure as it should be.
