Star Wars: Death Star, Star Forge... the 5 deadliest weapons of the Sith

Star Wars is full of unimaginable perils, and the Death Star, built under the supervision of the mysterious Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, is only the tip of the iceberg. From the Star Forge to psychic bombs, including the Sith Temple of Malachor, Hitek looks back at 5 terrifying weapons imagined by the Sith to dominate the galaxy or specifically attack their sworn enemies, the Jedi.

#1 The Death Star

Star Wars: Death Star, Star Forge... the 5 deadliest weapons of the Sith

Let's start at the beginning with the Death Star, the most iconic weapon of destruction in the Star Wars universe. Built by Darth Sidious, who was already obsessed with it years before it was even built, this space battle station the size of a small moon is synonymous with death and destruction. Its super-laser, powered by kyber crystals, is powerful enough to blow up an entire planet. Destroyed by Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, it will soon return in a second version. Designed by the Rakata, a people as advanced in their knowledge of the Force and technology as they are warlike and cruel, this battle station allowed them, millennia before the Skywalker Saga, to conquer the galaxy. Rediscovered by Darth Revan and his apprentice Malak much later in the timeline, it is capable of building infinite ships by drawing energy from a sun. It can therefore allow anyone who possesses it to build a fleet in a short time, which is what Malak, who had overthrown his Master, did before the latter turned to the light and struck down his former protégé.

#3 Psychic Bombs

This artifact from the Legends is quite intriguing. It is a dangerous tool, used by the Sith against the Jedi, but which practically caused their extinction. During a ritual, the thought bomb is fueled by the participants' dark energy, then releases it in a blast that kills all Force-sensitive beings it touches. A nice little detail: the victims' fragmented souls are ingested by the artifact, condemned to a whirlwind of perpetual torment.

#4 The Dark Reaper

Like psychic bombs, the Dark Reaper particularly affects Force-sensitive beings. It "harvests" the Force from its victims and condenses it into beams of energy that can be fired. Unlike the Death Star, this weapon is limited by the amount of Force it can draw from the Jedi, and it is smaller. Although deadly, it is therefore less feared by the Jedi. Built during the Great Sith War, it was destroyed thanks to the knowledge of a former Jedi Knight named Ulic Qel-Droma, who taught the Jedi how to resist its effects.

#5 The Sith Temple of Malachor

Introduced to Star Wars fans in season 2 of Star Wars Rebels, the Sith Temple of Malachor is a battle station capable of burning the surface of a planet. It draws its power from a Sith Holocron, a pyramid-shaped artifact containing an entity called the Presence, which only a person mastering the Dark Side of the Force can open and consult. Inside the temple, a Sith master and apprentice are required to open the chamber containing the Holocron. The Holocron must then be placed on top of the obelisk at the top of the Temple to activate the weapon. To learn more, you can read our article on the Sith vs. Jedi War, during which this Temple played an important role.
