Star Wars Jedi 3 officially returns amid the carnage

Overnight, we unfortunately learned that Electronic Arts was laying off between 300 and 400 people from various studios under its supervision. Among them, Respawn Entertainment (Apex Legends, Star Wars Jedi), which lost 100 employees, but also suffered the cancellation of two games incubating within its organization. Despite this terrible news for those involved, the studio issued a message to indicate that this should not affect the development of Star Wars Jedi 3. A priori, quite the opposite, in fact.

Star Wars Jedi 3 has survived Order 66 launched by by Electronic Arts

The American giant Electronic Arts is clearly showing some signs of fatigue, despite extremely lucrative franchises like EA FC. The publisher has in any case separated from several hundred employees in the evening, with the collateral damage of numerous cancellations of projects currently in development. Electronic Arts seems to want to concentrate its eggs in profitable baskets such as Battlefield 6, Apex Legends or even the Star Wars license, carried in particular by Star Wars Jedi 3, currently in development, and Zero Company coming next year.

Greatly impacted by these layoffs, Respawn Entertainment released a press release on his official X.com account to provide a status update to his fans. " We have made the decision to cancel two incubating projects and make adjustments to our staff around Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi 3. These are difficult decisions, and we are extremely grateful to our affected teammates. We will support them in their search for new employment, even within Electronic Arts. ".

The studio is taking this opportunity to share a small roadmap for these projects still in progress, including plans to " push what Apex is even further ". Regarding Cal Kestis's next adventure, here is what he had to say: " Looking ahead, we also look forward to continuing to create new stories. With Star Wars Jedi 3, we plan to raise the bar even higher in terms of storytelling and gameplay. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the journey; we carry your legacy into everything we create in the future..”
