Starlink will cost a lot less, but only if you agree to this condition

The Starlink kit, which costs a minimum of 300 euros depending on the equipment chosen, will no longer be charged for subscribing to a new subscription. But there is of course a counterpart to this advantage.

Starlink will cost a lot less, but only if you agree to this condition

Very high-speed internet access via Starlink satellite is gaining more and more followers. A brake on its adoption is the cost of the initial investment, since the company charges a lot for its access kit: 349 euros for the Standard model and 299 euros for the Mini version. The supplier is aware that such a sum can put off some potential customers, and is launching a new offer to drastically reduce the entry ticket to Starlink.

With this new subscription, which currently only concerns the residential offer, and not roaming, the Starlink kit allowing access to the network becomes free. In return, the user must commit to a period of 12 months. Starlink is thus assured of covering its costs by not sending equipment to a user who will unsubscribe too quickly.

The free Starlink kit for a 12-month commitment for a single address

Starlink explains that this offer is available in “certain markets”. We simulated an order for an address in France, and this new option was not offered to us. For the basic offer aimed at equipping a home or a specific location, Starlink still offers monthly subscriptions, Residential at 40 euros per month and Residential Lite (with speeds limited during peak hours) at 29 euros per month, but we do not see an offer with a 12-month commitment to save on the price of the kit. It's unclear if Starlink plans to expand this to other regions in the future.

The company still offers a 30-day trial period to test the service with this plan. But if you change your mind, you must of course return the kit received free of charge within the time limit, otherwise you will be charged. Starlink also charges fees for address changes, third-party service transfers, and subscription cancellations. If you fall into any of these cases after the trial period, you will have to pay for the kit pro rata to the time used for the first contract. So you need to be sure that you're going to use your Starlink in the same place and for the long term before committing.
