Nintendo has a ton of cult franchises. The Japanese publisher is behind some of the most popular characters in video game history, and the release of its new console is a great excuse to imagine what's next. With such a long development time for the Switch 2, we expected Nintendo to offer the most stellar launch catalog of recent console generations. This won't be the case. It's time for us to take a look back at the 7 most anticipated Nintendo games that haven't yet been announced.
An Ocarina of Time remake
For years, the idea of a Ocarina of Time remake has been a dream come true for gamers. Link's Awakening, Skyward Sword, Wind Waker, Nintendo has been remastering its classics for several years. A strategy that's paying off, but one that doesn't fail to make the reluctant players grind their teeth, according to them, Nintendo is increasing the rate of publication of its remakes to encourage players to spend even more. However, one game would definitely be a bestseller: Ocarina of Time. Remake rumors have persisted for years, without a game being made official. To keep the wait going, fans are imagining it on Unreal Engine 5. In any case, it's hard not to see a remake of Ocarina of Time coming in the next few years.
A new 3D Mario
Since October 2017 and Super Mario Odyssey, fans of the franchise haven't had many new adventures for the mustachioed plumber. A Super Mario 3D All-Stars, a compilation of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy, and an excellent Super Mario Bros. Wonder as Mario games for the Nintendo Switch, and nothing since. Of course, it's hard to imagine the Nintendo Switch 2 not offering a new 3D Mario game one of these days. The question is when. The 10th generation of Pokémon
After the Scarlet and Purple debacle, the 10th generation of Pokémon is cruelly awaited. 3 years usually pass between two generations of Pokémon, the Scarlet and Purple versions being released in November 2022, the delay is longer between the 9th and 10th gen. However, 2025 should be marked by the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, whose gameplay was seen in more detail last week. A gap that will provide more development time for this project, which will likely be announced next year at the annual Pokémon Presents.
The remakes of the Black and White versions of Pokémon

With only three years between Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, fans were expecting the next generation to arrive: the 5th, namely the Black and White and Black 2 and White 2 versions. But no. Nintendo is certainly saving this cartridge for the next big game in its franchise, namely between the release of the 10th generation and the arrival of the 11th. So remakes of Black and White in 2027? Possible.
A new Super Smash Bros.
Fans of the franchise saw their eyes widen when they saw Kirby's star appear in the latest Nintendo Direct dedicated to the Nintendo Switch 2, a possible harbinger of a new Super Smash Bros.. Ultimately, the little pink ball imagined by Masahiro Sakurai in 1992 did not appear to announce a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or a sequel, but simply a Kirby Air Riders, a new title inspired by the action racing game Kirby Air Ride on Nintendo GameCube. However, the sequel to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had leaked before the Switch 2 was officially announced. Fact or fiction? Answer in the coming years.
A real Wii Sports
It's hard to forget the wild games of archery, golf, bowling, and especially wakeboarding in Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. Legendary games that made history on the Wii. And now, in 2022, Nintendo is offering a new opus: Nintendo Switch Sports. 8 sports in total, including six at launch, and only three of which are new. It's hard to fall under the spell of Nintendo Switch Sports, which looks like a reheated dish, but which nevertheless remains a commercial success. Nintendo must offer a more complete title for the sequel, to restore its nobility to a franchise whose last installment reassured no one.
A new Animal Crossing
Once a niche license, Animal Crossing has won the hearts of millions of players by releasing its latest installment at just the right time. Animal Crossing: New Horizons arrives at the same time as the first lockdown and serves as an escape for many players stuck at home. Available on Nintendo Switch, a console then in the hands of a very large number of aficionados, New Horizons is an instant hit. What about the sequel? We're eagerly awaiting it. And if the next installment could combine terraforming, freedom of movement, iconic NPCs, interesting city projects, and a more significant evolution of the main living space, it would be just perfect.
