Switch 2: The console is a success, Nintendo is preparing for a shortage

The Nintendo Switch 2 will be released at the beginning of June. The Kyoto-based company has opened pre-orders, and despite its high price, which has been criticized, the Big N is breaking records! Faced with this success, it could be that the Japanese manufacturer will not be able to keep up, and that players will be faced with stock shortages.

Even if its price is high, fans want the Switch 2

In a few weeks, the Nintendo Switch 2 will hit our shelves. During its presentation during the Nintendo Direct on April 2, the Japanese manufacturer revealed the price of its future console: 439 euros and 90 euros for the games. An announcement that had provoked a lot of criticism from fans. But it seems that this high price does not slow down players.

As proof, in Japan, Nintendo has opened pre-orders and the demand is such that it "far exceeds" the "initial expectations" of the company as indicated by its CEO, Shuntaro Furukawa in a message posted on his X account. Pre-orders in Japan reach 2.2 million, already causing a stock shortage. The president of the company claims that this figure "significantly exceeds the number of Switch 2 consoles that can be delivered at release." Faced with this enthusiasm, Nintendo has set up a raffle for Japanese customers. In addition, in the United States, where pre-orders have been open since April 25, the American Nintendo website pointed out that it will not be guaranteed to get your hands on the console on the day of its release. Will the situation be the same worldwide? That's the question we can ask ourselves. What will happen here?

No Switch 2 shortage in France

It seems we're in luck. The site Nintendo.fr promises French customers that Switch 2 consoles and other products ordered at the same time will be delivered on the same day.

Big N and its distributors in France are relatively confident. Fnac is optimistic about the quantities it will have available. The company affirms that it will honor pre-orders already placed and reserves the right to stop them if the situation becomes difficult.

Given the pre-order figures, Nintendo can rub its hands: the Switch 2 is a success. It remains to be seen whether the manufacturer will keep up with demand and avoid a repeat of the Switch's difficult launch in 2017.
