Teufel, a German brand renowned for its audio equipment, presents the third generation of its entry-level wireless in-ear headphones: the REAL BLUE TWS 3. These headphones promise a high-quality sound experience, enhanced by modern features such as hybrid active noise cancellation (ANC) and a transparency mode. After several weeks of use in various settings, here is what we thought of them in this test.
Getting Started with the REAL BLUE TWS 3
Right out of the box, the REAL BLUE TWS 3 impress with their sleek design and careful workmanship. As a bonus, Teufel is used to using cardboard packaging only, with no frills, and almost everything can be recycled, it should be noted. The compact and visibly robust charging case makes it very easy to carry on a daily basis. The earphones come with numerous sizes of antibacterial silicone tips, guaranteeing a personalized fit and optimal comfort. Once in place, they are light and stable, even during physical activities. On a daily basis, I use slightly higher-end earphones from Jabra, which I was completely satisfied with in terms of comfort. The Teufel REAL BLUE TWS 3 are just as good in this regard.
Each earphone has touch controls that allow you to control music, calls, or noise cancellation without having to take your smartphone out of your pocket. Unfortunately, this is where I am a little disappointed. While it may seem intuitive at first glance, you still have to remember a certain number of combinations. And it's not uncommon to not be able to activate or deactivate the ANC the first time, for example. In addition, the audible alerts in the ears are not always easy to differentiate.
When it comes to pairing the earbuds, everything works perfectly, regardless of the device. Android smartphone users are obviously privileged since the REAL BLUE TWS 3 integrate Google Fast Pair.
Teufel App
The Teufel app, available on iOS and Android, enriches the user experience by offering earbud customization options. It allows you to adjust the equalizer, modify the touch controls, and switch between ANC and transparency modes. The interface is user-friendly and responsive. While it's very useful when you first receive your earphones, it becomes less interesting once you've found the perfect settings for their use.
REAL BLUE TWS 3 earphone battery life
The REAL BLUE TWS 3 provide comfortable battery life for both daily and extended use. With up to 9 hours of listening time without active noise cancellation and 6 hours with it (we noticed a low battery warning after 5 hours 40 minutes during our test), they more than meet the needs of mobile users. The charging case allows for three additional charges, bringing the total battery life to 37 hours without ANC, and 21 hours with it. As a bonus, the case's wireless charging (also possible with USB-C with the included cable) adds a nice touch of practicality.
Teufel REAL BLUE TWS 3 audio quality
The REAL BLUE TWS 3 deliver good sound performance. The bass is deep and controlled. It doesn't overwhelm us, even with the equalizer set to neutral. The mids are clear and natural, and the highs are also good. Teufel has chosen to design earphones that are suitable for any musical style. And they are also perfectly suited to video and streaming consumers. Once the ANC is activated, you find yourself immersed in your film without any problem.
Teufel Active Noise Cancellation
The hybrid active noise cancellation of the REAL BLUE TWS 3 is effective at reducing ambient noise, especially in urban environments or on public transport. You're obviously not at the level of the market leaders, but in this price range, it's probably the best experience I've had so far. It's clean and does the job very well.
REAL BLUE TWS 3 Transparency Mode
The transparency mode is also well designed, allowing you to hear essential outside sounds without removing the earphones, which is particularly useful for safety when traveling. There is a small negative point when the transparency mode is activated where outside sounds are not particularly well reproduced, but it is a detail since the transparency mode is not really designed to be used permanently.
Conclusion on the Teufel REAL BLUE TWS 3
The Teufel REAL BLUE TWS 3 are positioned as a solid option in this segment of in-ear wireless earphones. They combine good sound quality, modern features, very good comfort and a rather nice design with a good choice of colors to please the greatest number. Although there are some improvements that could be made, particularly regarding ANC and touch controls, these earphones offer excellent value for money.
