The Elder Scroll 6 is officially back in the news after all this time

Bethesda did it. In the midst of radio silence surrounding The Elder Scrolls 6, the studio surprised everyone by unveiling Oblivion Remastered. An unexpected return, but not insignificant. Because this remaster comes at the right time to satisfy fans' expectations. And above all, Todd Howard slipped in a little word about the long-awaited sequel...

A nostalgic, but careful return and a word for The Elder Scroll 6

The presentation video lasts twenty minutes. And from the first few seconds, you'll understand that this isn't just a facelift. Oblivion Remastered is much more than that. Revised graphics, a brighter atmosphere, and above all, new recorded dialogue for all races in the game. All with all the DLC included. The rendering is clean, modern, and remains faithful to the spirit of the original game. The landscapes of Cyrodiil have never been so beautiful. And it's now available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5. And in all of this, what about The Elder Scrolls 6?

Right after the video launches, Todd Howard speaks. And there, he drops a sentence that shook the fans:

Obviously, we're working on the sixth chapter... but the great thing about The Elder Scrolls is being able to look back.

No more. No trailer. No date. Nothing concrete. But at least it's confirmation: The Elder Scrolls 6 is still in development. And that's already something.

A clear strategy at Bethesda

Since the release of Starfield, Bethesda has been moving at its own pace. The studio seems to want to take its time. Finish one project before really launching the next. Today, Oblivion Remastered. Tomorrow, The Elder Scrolls 6. And in a long, long time, probably Fallout 5 and one day maybe Starfield 2. This approach may seem frustrating, especially after years of waiting. But it also shows a desire to do things right. And to avoid premature announcements.

Some will see this remaster as a maneuver to keep people waiting. But that would be reductive. Oblivion Remastered is also a real chance to (re)discover one of the best Western RPGs ever created. With its varied quests, cult guilds, and open world full of surprises, the game has marked an entire generation. Seeing it again today, in a more beautiful and fluid version, is a simple but effective pleasure.
