The reception received by The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered has been rather positive. But several problems have marred the game's release, including a major issue regarding saves.

The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered is a good game, but it has one big problem

A few days ago, Bethesda announced the immediate availability of The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered. This new version of the fourth installment in the main TES saga, developed on Unreal Engine 5, quickly won over players with its updated graphics and audio, as well as its improved interface and gameplay compared to Oblivion, released almost 20 years ago.

But on forums and social networks, discontent is growing over one particular point. It seems that many players are losing their saves. The phenomenon seems to be happening on PC and Xbox, the PS5 could be spared. A journalist from Insider Gaming reported that he too was affected by this issue, causing the loss of several hours of gameplay on Xbox Series X.

Problem with saves in The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered

In-game, both automatic and manual saves seem to work perfectly. However, when you close Oblivion Remastered and then return to it, the saves are no longer available. On Steam, users have identified that the game's file system is faulty and looking for the wrong path for saves. Others report receiving an error message stating that the storage space is full, when this is not the case.

In the comments, we also see many players complaining about crashes and bugs galore, something we already noted in our review of The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered. Optimization on PC also seems somewhat shaky, with uneven performance despite an excellent configuration.

The French also regret the absence of French versions for this remaster, while dubbing in our language was well supported in the first Oblivion. For those who wanted to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the time with French voices, it's a failure. Finally, mods are not supported, even though they were essential in the first TES IV.
