Chinese manufacturer Oppo has revealed its new X8 range to the world, and it's sure to turn heads with its impressive specs. The Find X8 Ultra in particular is very interesting. The device runs on a Snapdragon 8 Elite, up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, hidden beneath a 6.8-inch OLED screen (1400p) with a 120Hz display frequency. The battery has a hefty 6100mAh capacity, which charges at 100W wired and 50W by induction.

Oppo has also taken note of the current trend of adding physical buttons: the smartphone thus integrates a customizable button to launch a shortcut, and another button to activate the camera. Any resemblance to smartphones designed by a certain American manufacturer is probably not coincidental.
Let's talk about the camera. It has no less than two 50 MP telephoto lenses for x3 (70 mm) and x6 (135 mm) optical zooms. The device follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, which reached number one in the DXOMARK rankings last year. The camera unit also includes a 50MP wide-angle and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle.
With the Find X8 Ultra, Oppo aims to address blurring and artificial hues with new "crystal blue" glass and a so-called Danxia lens (a marketing term that refers to properties inspired by a geological formation found in China). On the software side, the smartphone incorporates advanced AI algorithms for more natural nighttime portraits. It is also the first model to feature the end-to-end True Tone ProXDR color system, covering shooting, viewing, and editing.
Oppo will sell this model for the equivalent of $880 in China, with no assurance that it will ever be available here. Oppo is selling smartphones again in France, but the Find X7 Ultra is not part of the catalog—the manufacturer has not indicated whether this will also be the case for the successor.
