The Last of Us: Is Season 2 Better Than Season 1?

The Last of Us: Is Season 2 Better Than Season 1?

Two years ago, viewers were able to discover The Last of Us, a series adapted from the eponymous video game from Naughty Dog studio. Adapting one legendary game after another, the HBO production reaped the benefits of its success immediately after the release of the first episode. The verdict: Season 1 of The Last of Us was a critical and commercial success. Since April 13, it's season 2's turn to hit viewers' screens.

But was the public there for this sequel, which already announced a slight departure from the original material? The answer is a resounding yes. Season 2 of The Last of Us even outperformed its first season, with 5.3 million viewers on the first day of broadcasting. This is a 13% increase in audience compared to the first episode of season 1, which had gathered 4.7 million viewers. This obviously doesn't count people who catch up on their episode by streaming on the Max platform, but only those who watched the episode live on the HBO channel.

A series on the path to record-breaking

Two years ago, the audience that watched the first episode of the first season was the second-best start for an HBO series. As the series aired, the number of fans grew. The last episode attracted 74% more viewers than the first. This could obviously be the case for this second season.

For the moment, players are not disappointed with the adaptation made of the game, although many details have already been revealed regarding the main plot, leaving aside part of the mystery that made The Last of Us Part II a success. But the acting is there, as are the action scenes that were sorely lacking in Season 1.

We already know that Season 2 will not cover all the events of the second game. The The Last of Us series will take its time to develop the complex and impactful plot of the video game title with a Season 3 that was recently confirmed.
