Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are back in their roles as Joel and Ellie, the heroes of the series The Last of Us, whose second season is currently airing on HBO. Episode 2, released this weekend, has caused a strong reaction from fans on social media, and breaking an impressive record.
The Last of Us, a series already cult
Speechless. — Max (@StreamOnMax) April 21, 2025
With The Last of Us, HBO has struck again. This serial adaptation of Naughty Dog's cult video game is dark, violent, brutal, raw, and led by a duo of actors dedicated to the series: Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. After Game of Thrones, this is the second "collaboration" between the two actors with the American television network (although their paths did not cross in Westeros). They swapped the fantasy-medieval universe of George R.R. Martin for the post-apocalyptic world of a devastated humanity, with resounding success among the public. With the second episode of season 2, Through the Valley, broadcast on April 20, The Last of Us struck a major blow by killing off a key character in the plot. A bold decision that paid off with viewers, with the episode now being the highest rated of the series!
Through the Valley, a highly acclaimed episode
On IMDb, Through the Valley received an excellent rating of 9.5/10, based on 23,000 ratings. In just two days, episode 2 of season 2 surpassed all the other episodes of The Last of Us, and in particular Endure and Survive, the fifth episode of season 1 rated 9.4/10 (for no less than 83,000 notes). On the song Through The Valley, sung by Ashley Johnson, who plays the role of Ellie in the video game, Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) avenged her father, and the public, who could have reacted badly to the disappearance of one of the heroes of the series, on the contrary acclaimed this bold scriptwriting (which HBO has already accustomed us to in the past).
And you, what did you think of this episode?
