After the traumatic events of last week, it's time for viewers to recover from their emotions with a new episode of The Last of Us. Ellie expresses a desire for revenge and wants to learn more about those who targeted Jackson's community. This isn't the first time the WLF logo has been seen, but Episode 3 goes into more detail about what it represents. Since it will play an important role in the events that follow, we will recap here everything we know about the WLF and its origins.
How was the WLF born?
WLF is an acronym for Washington Liberation Front. We are talking here about the state of Washington, in the northwest of the United States, of which Seattle is the capital. This is why Dina and Ellie are going to in this city when they hear about the WLF. The organization has control over the entire city of Seattle and controls who comes and goes. Similar to Jackson, residents are trying to survive as efficiently as possible in an urban area overrun by the infected.
It is an organization that was born out of rebellion and the desire to live better, as its members originally created it following the oppression of the army in the city of Seattle. The WLF was formed by former members of other organizations, such as the Fireflies or FEDRA. Isaac Dixon is one of the founders, and he was mentioned by Abby's group in the early episodes of Season 2. The whole gang eventually joins the group following the disbandment of the Fireflies at the end of Season 1.
At the time of the action, the WLF's greatest enemy is another clan called the Seraphites (or the Scars). They also occupy the territory of Seattle, but rather the wooded areas where It's easier to hide. While several factions exist within the universe of The Last of Us, the WLF is one of the most important, as it has a real military force and a well-established presence in the heart of a vast area. In fact, in the game, it is one of the only factions capable of using attack dogs to deal with opponents.
