After a first season released in 2022, the series Wednesday is preparing to return to Netflix. Discover new images from this second season, still led by Jenna Ortega.
Mercredi: the event series
Developed by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, and produced by Tim Burton himself, the first season of Mercredi was a small event on Netflix in 2022. An already cult series, which fit perfectly into the gothic, eccentric and offbeat universe of The Addams Family. The series also helped further establish Jenna Ortega's popularity in the Hollywood landscape.
Given the popular success of the first season, it's no surprise that Netflix gave the green light for a second round. A second season that will be broadcast in two parts. The first will be released on August 6, 2025, while the second will arrive on September 3, 2025. All on Netflix of course.
Wednesday season 2, a new trailer
A few months ago, Netflix had already released a video to present the extensive casting of this season 2. A casting that is about to feature new faces like Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Thandiwe Newton and the immense Christopher Lloyd, who played Uncle Fetid in the two Barry Sonnenfeld films.
Today, the platform with the capital N has just unveiled an impressive first trailer for this second season. Images that announce a season darker, more violent and more intense than the previous one. Clearly, this second season will opt for a delicious mix of dark humor, action, and horror.
In any case, here's what we learned from this superb trailer:
- Wednesday Addams will be back at Nevermore Academy. She will resume her adventures at the famous school surrounded by familiar faces such as Enid (Emma Myers), Tyler (Hunter Doohan), and her brother Pugsley, now endowed with electrical powers.
- The Addams Family in full force. This second season will, in addition to bringing back Morticia and Gomez, introduce the other members of the Addams Family. We notably get a first glimpse of Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman also appear in these new images.
- Percy Hynes-White has been dismissed from the series. Note the absence of actor Percy Hynes-White in this first trailer. Indeed, the actor who played Xavier Thorpe was fired from the series, due to recent sexual accusations.
- Lady Gaga is still making itself desired. Indeed, the famous pop singer will play a role that is still being kept secret in season 2 of Wednesday. Unfortunately for her fans, she is still making herself desired and is absent from this first trailer.
- Jenna Ortega is the perfect performer. Finally, and above all, this first trailer reminds us how Jenna Ortega is absolutely perfect in the role of Wednesday Addams. The actress seems to have been born to embody this role of a little bitch with a big heart. And we can't wait to see her again this summer, on Netflix.
