WhatsApp has a new feature for your most secret chats

WhatsApp has a new feature for your most secret chats

Whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. This adage will soon also apply to the WhatsApp platform. Meta's secure messaging service is getting a new feature that should please its users. Advanced privacy is making its debut on the app, and that's good news for all your sensitive or intimate conversations.

This is a level of security that comes on top of end-to-end encryption, which encrypts message data both inbound and outbound, so that no one, not even Meta, can access the content of your messages and calls. Advanced Chat Privacy allows you to prohibit certain actions in a conversation, whether alone or in a group.

Everything that happens on WhatsApp stays on WhatsApp

First, it will be prohibited for your interlocutor to export conversations, but it will also restrict the automatic downloading of media to the devices of chat members. Finally, it will be impossible to use messages for AI-based functions, as WhatsApp explains in its press release. The company explains:

How to enable advanced privacy on WhatsApp?

Please note that this new feature is not automatically enabled. You will need to manually go to the settings of each conversation you want to apply it to for it to take effect. To do this, nothing could be simpler. Simply open a conversation, click on its name at the top, then select “Privacy progress of the discussion”.

It is worth noting that the deployment of this option is gradual on Android and iOS, and it may take a few days or weeks depending on the user.
