Withings launches the Téléconsultation 2.0 with "Beamo", its thermometer of the future

Withings launches the Téléconsultation 2.0 with "Beamo", its thermometer of the future

The BeamO multiscope is finally available. Withings had promised it for June 2024, but it ultimately took more than a year and April 2, 2025, to find it for sale on the French brand's official website, which has regularly left its customers waiting for other products due to insufficient stocks.

Contacted by 01net.com, Withings explained that it had postponed its launch due to the regulatory approval process, particularly obtaining the CE mark for its medical features. An obstacle that also seems to be slowing down the production launch of the U-Scan accessory.

This 4-in-1 thermometer, presented at the beginning of January 2024 at CES in Las Vegas, was presented at the time as "the thermometer of the future, allowing you to assess both temperature and observe the state of the heart and lungs", by Eric Carreel, the founder and president of Withings. It is now available at a price of 249.95 euros.

Compared to smartwatches, BeamO presents itself as a true accessory dedicated solely to health, which will "equip all medicine cabinets" as Withings announced. After trying to launch lifestyle products, it's time for it to offer real health tools, supposedly more advanced and of "medical precision".

Among its sensors, BeamO integrates an electrocardiogram, an oximeter, a stethoscope, and a thermometer. While electrocardiograms are becoming increasingly common on smartwatches, not all of them are used to prevent potential heart problems, such as atrial fibrillation. Some only aim to measure heart rate variability more precisely, especially on sports watches.

The 4-in-1 thermometer is theoretically intended to replace a check-up that could be done in a pharmacy or at a doctor's office, to take measurements of temperature, blood oxygenation (Sp02), heart rate, and to prevent any form of anomaly thanks to measurement by light waves (photoplethysmography) and acoustic waves (piezoelectric disc).

"BeamO performs a complete health assessment of body temperature, heart and lung health in less than a minute. It can alert users of fever or infection, detect potential cardiovascular problems, including atrial fibrillation (AfiB), which is one of the most common forms of arrhythmia, and issue alerts in the event of an abnormal heart rhythm," reads a press release from the brand.

Teleconsultation 2.0: the solution to the deserts medical?

To find customers, Withings is highlighting the benefits of a quick solution that makes it easier to monitor health care. But its real goal lies in another aspect of connected health: teleconsultation. In medical deserts first of all, the French brand will try with BeamO to equip households so that they can rely on teleconsultation, where the doctor will retrieve the measurements taken by patients with their connected accessory.

To this end, BeamO comes with free access to Cardio Check-Up, a service included in the paid Withings+ subscription, allowing you to obtain a detailed medical examination for cardiac health, "carried out remotely in less than 24 hours by real cardiologists." Eric Carreel concludes: "We see here how connected objects can facilitate the relationship with the doctor, via reliable, secure, and real-time data sharing."
