Xiaomi continues to position itself in the automotive sector with electric models designed to stand out. After the notable launch of the SU7 sedan, which incorporates highly advanced glazing solutions against heat, the brand is preparing its first SUV. The market The Chinese electric vehicle market is booming, and manufacturers are looking to integrate increasingly practical technologies for both urban and long-distance journeys.

The next model is called the YU7. It is a family SUV scheduled for release between June and July 2025. Xiaomi has published the first images of its panoramic roof, which features a unique purple tint. The latter is described as “variable”, which means that it could adapt to exterior light or offer several levels of opacity. The manufacturer presents this innovation as one of the vehicle's flagship elements.

The technical elements have not yet been detailed, but Xiaomi could use the technologies developed for the SU7. This has a glazed surface of 5.35 m², with multi-layer glazing that blocks 99.9% of UV rays and more than 99% of infrared rays. The roof uses an advanced construction, with two 2 mm clear glass plates, a 2% insulating intermediate film and a Low-e treatment. This system ensures excellent thermal insulation and visual insulation, while maintaining panoramic visibility.

In internal tests, the SU7 showed a significant reduction in heat. After 1.5 hours of exposure to At 38°C, the interior reached 59.5°C compared to 71.5°C for a Tesla Model 3. This 12°C differential is achieved without adding additional tinted film, thanks to the acoustic glazing with integrated UV-IR treatment. The YU7 could benefit from a similar roof, but with a variable opacity system, allowing the brightness in the passenger compartment to be adjusted. This would provide more comfort in summer. and better temperature control, without compromising natural light or outdoor visibility.
