Some might have thought it was April Fools' Day. iPhone users have been seeing old, deleted apps on their home screens again, without them having downloaded them. Apps deleted months, or even years, ago have magically reappeared. Unfortunately for the dreamers, everyone has remained in the Muggle world. The situation is due to a bug in the latest iOS update, released on March 31, which gives access to Apple Intelligence.
This bug is not believed to be related to the "Automatic Downloads" feature. Several posts on Reddit and Apple Support were written by users who do not own other Apple products. Users have also reported seeing an app appear that they had never installed. The affected iPhones were not jailbroken, and the apps did not come from alternative app stores like AltStore. Note that not all iPhones that downloaded iOS 18.4 were affected by the bug. The source of the problem could be the device's location or model. Apple has not yet responded. In the meantime, affected users can delete the apps and take advantage of Apple Intelligence.
Apple's AI assistant arrives in Europe with iOS 18.4
With iOS 18.4, the Cupertino company's AI assistant is finally available in Europe, which was eagerly awaited by iPhone 16, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max owners. Since September, they could see an "Apple Intelligence" button in their settings without being able to access it. This is due to the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and its interoperability requirements. The brand Apple therefore took a little longer to comply.
With Apple Intelligence, Siri is smarter and can be requested via text message. If it is unable to respond to the request, it turns to ChatGPT, particularly for image recognition. Messages also benefit from AI with automatic response suggestions and the ability to change the tone of a text.
On the photo side, Apple users can finally take advantage of the same capabilities as Samsung. Visual Intelligence now allows you to remove elements from a photo in just a few clicks, with results that are said to be more impressive than those of the Korean brand. Many other new features are to be discovered, notably on Apple News+.
