The third Thursday of May, May 15 this year, is dedicated to accessibility issues through Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD). It's an opportunity for companies to unveil their initiatives in this area, as Apple did earlier this week. Google is obviously not left out.

More vivid subtitles, more useful AI

"And it's the gouuuuuuut!" Users of Android 15 and above will be able to read enthusiastic subtitles from sports commentators during matches! The Live Captions feature, which transcribes smartphone audio verbatim in real time, can now "extend" words when necessary.

The desktop version of the Chrome browser now has an OCR tool for scanned documents saved as PDF. The software automatically recognizes the PDF type; It is then possible to use the screen reader to copy text, search for a word or phrase, or highlight a passage.
