Andor season 2 ended with a revelation that could well define part of the future of Star Wars. Its implications are major, let's see just how major. Warning: spoilers.
Among all the Star Wars series that have emerged in recent years, and there are many, Andor is a special case. Telling the story of Cassian Andor, the man who will eventually hand over the Death Star plans to the Rebel Alliance with his team, it doesn't feature the famous Jedi. Here, normal, powerless humans are at the center of the adventures. Season 2 of Andor concludes the series with a masterful hand, and its final scene will not be without consequences for the future of Star Wars.
As you might expect, we're going to happily spoil the final episode of the series. If you haven't seen it yet, stop reading this article now. We learn that Bix Caleen, with whom Cassian had a romantic relationship, left him while pregnant with him in episode 9. The series ends with the young mother carrying her child in her arms on the planet Yavin IV.
Andor season 2 ends with a major revelation for the Star Wars universe
We already know that Cassian dies during his mission and witness his disappearance in Rogue One. The existence of his son, however, suggests that his legacy will continue in a future series, or even a future Star Wars film. It is highly unlikely that the child will influence the war between the Empire and the Rebels as depicted in episodes 4 to 6. He or she is far too young.
On the other hand, he or she could take part in the conflict between the First Order and the Resistance, depicted in episodes 7 to 9. The child of Cassian Andor and Bix Caleen could even appear in Star Wars Starfighter, the film starring Ryan Gosling and taking place 5 years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. He or she would then be in their forties. Whatever choice the writers make, it's a safe bet that the character will have a role to play.
