If there's one saga that's still a staple at Ubisoft, it's Assassin's Creed. From Altaïr to Naoe, the legacy of the bearers of the creed is far from dying out. The French publisher continues to mobilize all its teams around the world to continue this lineage, whose popularity continues unabated within its catalog. A ton of new games are on the way, so get ready.
All the future Assassin's Creed games to come
The beginning of 2025 was marked by the release of Assassin's Creed Shadows. Despite the controversies that preceded it, the launch was a resounding success. Therefore, it's no surprise to see that Ubisoft still has big plans for its historic franchise. Insider Gaming recently checked in with its sources to compile a list of upcoming games. So let's take a look.
The two most obvious upcoming Assassin's Creed games are certainly Hexe and Jade, codenamed respectively. The first, initially codenamed "Neo," will follow the action-RPG formula established since Odyssey. Developed by the teams at Ubisoft Montreal, it will be set in 16th-century Eastern Europe. Remember, the second was announced at the same time. However, this will be a "AAA mobile" according to Ubisoft, plunging us into China. It would also be the next installment in the franchise to be released.
Another big Assassin's Creed RPG-style game is also planned at Ubisoft under the code name "Scarlet". It could coincide with a certain "Nebula," a large-scale title planning to take us between the Aztec Empire, India, and the Mediterranean. But, it could also be two separate games. Then, a third title on this still very vague model should arrive.
Finally, in his summary, Tom Henderson does not give any news of the new VR game which was probably planned for 2023. Called "Nexus 2" internally, it is not certain that it is still in the works. Besides, you can already write off Mask, the Assassin's Creed that was being developed at Netflix. The latter has apparently been abandoned.
Multiplayer will be in the spotlight
Ubisoft also has plans to develop several Assassin's Creed multiplayer games. The most obvious is the one called "Invictus." According to journalist Tom Henderson, it would be inspired by the Fall Guys model. Thus, players would compete in 16-player games. Finally, if the project holds water, the studio would already have a 5-year plan.
Previously, Insider Gaming also reported a Project Echoes in 2023. At the time, it was only in the prototype stage. All that was known was that it was being prepared in collaboration between Ubisoft Annecy and Massive Entertainment. However, no new information has emerged since. This also applies to Project Raid, in development at Ubisoft Chengdu. The last news was that it was a free-to-play cooperative concept for 4-player PvE games.
According to reports, at least one of the two projects has been canceled. However, another multiplayer title is said to be in the works, a certain Assassin's Creed "Emerald". Here too, no details have leaked, except that it could simply be the uncanceled game between Echoes and Raid.
Ubisoft is reportedly preparing highly anticipated remakes
One of the most anticipated projects in the Assassin's Creed saga is obviously the Black Flag remake. The highly acclaimed fourth main installment has been the subject of numerous rumors for several years. Now, it seems that we are getting closer to the big moment of its announcement, with an estimated release date for the end of 2025.
Franchise nostalgics will have a second reason to rejoice! In fact, another remake is also reportedly in the works at Ubisoft. However, aside from the codename "Stardust," we still don't know which Assassin's Creed it will be. And it wouldn't be the last planned overhaul. Indeed, a "Remake 3" would also be on the roadmap, but without a studio assigned yet.
What is the roadmap for future Assassin's Creed games?
In short, Ubisoft has plans for at least 9 new Assassin's Creed games. Given the speed at which they are coming out, it is not impossible that others are already being considered in a very embryonic state. As of now, we can expect them to be released in the following order:
- In 2025:
- Jade
- Invictus
- Obdisian, or Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag Remake
- After 2025:
- Hexe, formerly "Neo"
- Scarlet, possible "Nebula" project
- Stardust
- Emerald, likely new name for the "Echoes" or "Raid" project
- RPG 3
- Remake 3
