Asterix and Obelix: The Battle of the Chiefs arrives on Netflix this Wednesday, April 30. This five-episode mini-series is an adaptation of the famous comic strip of the same name, written by René Goscinny and illustrated by Albert Uderzo. Published in 1966, the seventh album tells the story of how the village of indomitable Gauls must face the Romans while Panoramix, suffering from memory loss, no longer knows how to prepare the magic potion... Below, we give you five reasons to try this Netflix version of Battle of the Chiefs! and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra in 2002, the actor and director's name is associated with that of the two most famous Gauls on the planet. The former Nul signed what remains to this day the best adaptation of the adventures of the mustachioed duo who are adept at slapping and fighting wild boars. 23 years later, for Netflix, he's back with The Battle of the Chiefs, an animated miniseries, in which he also dubs the voice of Asterix. To our colleagues at La Voix du Nord, he confided that he chose this story for its dramatic twists, given that the village is vulnerable: "It was great to come back to this universe. Panoramix is crazy, whereas he is normally the pillar of wisdom." And Alain Chabat is not finished with Franco-Belgian comics, since he also wants to realize this ambitious project.
#2 An XXL cast
On the menu for this Gallic banquet, the cream of French actors and actresses. To dub the duo Asterix and Obelix, we find Alain Chabat and Gilles Lellouche, who already played Obelix in The Middle Kingdom by Guillaume Canet. The rest of the merry troupe of Gauls includes Thierry Lhermitte as Panoramix, Géraldine Nakache as Bonnemine, Grégoire Ludig as Abraracourcix and Alexandre Astier as Ordralfabétix. On the Roman side, we find Laurent Lafitte as Caesar, Jérôme Commandeur in the role of his mother, Anaïs Demoustier in the role of his advisor Metadata and Jean-Pascal Zadi as Roman.
#3 It's a short format
With its five episodes of about half an hour, watching Asterix and Obelix – The Battle of the Chefs won't take you all week. Its duration is roughly the same as a long film, and this mini-series can easily be finished in one evening. Its "pocket" format also allows you to watch an episode during a break. This choice by Alain Chabat and Netflix confirms the popularity of this format among viewers, as the recent success of Adolescence has recently proven.

#5 Because success means potential season 2
The Asterix and Obelix comic book series has 40 albums, or 40 potential Netflix mini-series adaptations (who knows). Created by the Toulouse-based studio TAT, Le Combat des Chefs is the culmination of three years of intense creative work, led by 250 professionals. The exact budget for the series is unknown, but it is said to be in the tens of millions of euros. Broadcast in 190 countries and 40 different languages, the series will reach a wide audience, and if successful, there's no guarantee that Netflix and Alain Chabat won't collaborate on a second adaptation...
