No more hassle with local SIM cards upon arrival or the fear of astronomical roaming charges? Bouygues Telecom is today launching InternationalSIM, a 100% digital eSIM offer designed to simplify the lives of travelers. Whether they are French people venturing abroad or foreigners visiting France and Europe, this solution promises fast connectivity to the four corners of the globe, in more than 200 destinations.
How does InternationalSIM work?
Developed in partnership with CG Communications, InternationalSIM is accessible via a dedicated application and a website, allowing you to purchase a prepaid plan adapted to the length of your stay. Installation is done via a simple QR code scan or directly from the app, directly from an eSIM-compatible smartphone. This approach aims to eliminate the need to handle a physical SIM card.
One of the major advantages of this offer is its transparency; the operator specifies that users can track their data consumption in real time using the app. Another interesting point is that travelers can benefit from InternationalSIM regardless of their usual operator, whether they are Bouygues Telecom customers or not.
In terms of the offer, Bouygues Telecom's InternationalSIM boasts a full range of flexible plans. Plans vary from 15 to 60 GB for stays in Europe and from 1 to 20 GB for the rest of the world. The maximum duration of the plans is 30 days. For example, foreign travelers in France and Europe can benefit from 30 GB of data with unlimited calls and texts in France and Europe for 29.90 euros for 30 days. For destinations such as the United States, China, or Morocco, plans of 1 to 20 GB are available for 30 days, with prices ranging from 4.5 euros to more than 70 euros depending on the destination and the volume of data chosen.
This launch comes in a booming tourism market, particularly in Europe. Bouygues Telecom anticipates the growing demand for simple connectivity solutions, especially as 60% of smartphone sales are expected to be eSIM compatible by 2025. For Renan Abgrall, Director of the Value Factory at Bouygues Telecom: "Capitalizing on eSIM technology, InternationalSIM offers the ultimate, premium, and amplified travel experience for travelers. This liberated connectivity transforms the way travelers perceive and experience their adventures."
Bouygues Telecom is ready to take on the competition
With InternationalSIM, Bouygues Telecom enters into direct competition with already well-established players in the international eSIM market for travelers, such as Holafly, Saily, and Airalo. While Holafly has made a name for itself with its unlimited data offers, Bouygues Telecom seems to be positioning itself more on the duration of packages (30 days) with defined data volumes, like Saily. It should also be noted that with 30-day plans, InternationalSIM could indirectly compete with certain French plans that include data allowances abroad, such as the 350 GB Special Travel plan from Red by SFR or the Free plan from Free Mobile.
The InternationalSIM application is already downloadable from the Apple Store and the Google Play Store. The operator specifies that multilingual assistance is available 24/7.
