Call of Duty 2025: A controversial feature has been leaked and people aren't happy about it

The year goes by, and rumors about the next Call of Duty multiply. This time, it's a leak that's causing a stir. This time, it's a well-known and controversial gameplay mechanic that could make its big comeback. And it's already causing a stir.

A leak that raises questions about the next Call of Duty

It was on X (formerly Twitter) that user @viipeter_ sparked the fire. While searching the game's files, data miners reportedly found traces of the wallrunning mechanic in the files of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. However, it's difficult to say whether this is simply a vestige inherited from Black Ops 3, the first to have introduced this mechanic, or whether Treyarch is actually planning to reintegrate it in the next installment.

For older players, wall running brings back memories... not always positive ones. Introduced in Black Ops 3 and then brought back in Infinite Warfare, this feature had divided the community. Some saw it as a way to bring more verticality and fluidity to movement. Others, on the other hand, denounced a shift that was too futuristic, far removed from the "field soldier" identity dear to the series. This controversy had also influenced the direction taken by Call of Duty WWII, which returned to a more classic approach, without jetpacks or wall-crawling. Since then, wallrunning has completely disappeared from the radar.

One more step towards omni-movement

It must be said that Treyarch seems to want to push the possibilities of movement ever further. Call of Duty Black Ops 6 has already introduced omni-movement, a system that allows you to sprint and dive in all directions. On paper, this may seem trivial, but in practice, it makes combat much more dynamic. The reintroduction of wallrunning would logically fit into this desire to further streamline combat. It remains to be seen whether this will be well received by players, especially those who were hoping for a return to basics.

As always with these kinds of leaks, it's best to remain cautious. The presence of files related to wallrunning in no way guarantees its presence in the Call of Duty 2025 game. It's possible that the developers are simply testing prototypes, or that they are recycling old elements to make something else.
