Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a bit of a game that very few players saw coming. Developed by the talented French teams at Sandfall Interactive in Montpellier, the title has become a real phenomenon in just a few days. With rave reviews, the game has received almost unanimous acclaim from the press and players.
The title, which was originally a student project, sold more than 500,000 copies on its first day of launch and more than a million copies in three days (not including the Game Pass versions). The success story is quite incredible for the Sandfall Interactive studio, since Clair Obscur is their first game, which was developed by only about thirty people.
As the days go by, the good news keeps coming, and today we learn that the game will already have the right to a film adaptation.
Chiaroscuro: Expedition33, the film adaptation confirmed
After announcing a few days ago that actress Sydney Sweeney was confirmed in the cast of the film adaptation of the video game Split Fiction, Variety announced today that the French phenomenon Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, released only six days ago, would also be getting a film adaptation.
For the moment, there is very little information. We only know that the producers of the film Sonic the Hedgehog will be on the project and that the production company Story Kitchen will handle the adaptation. The good news is that the Sandfall Interactive studio will collaborate on this live-action feature film, in order to guarantee good authenticity.
For the moment, no additional information regarding the casting or the potential release window of the film. Lately, adaptation projects have been multiplying as soon as a video game is released and meets with great success. Unfortunately, in most cases, the projects quickly fall into oblivion and we no longer have much information. We are thinking of the adaptations of ’It Takes Two or even A Plague Tale, already announced several years and of which we have no news. We hope that the outcome will be more positive for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
