While we've already seen Mickey Mouse at the helm of a boat in the animated short film titled Steamboat Willie, seeing the Disney mascot at the helm of a Formula 1 car has never been seen before! And it might just become reality because after the opening of a new park in Abu Dhabi, F1 has just made an official announcement for an unprecedented collaboration between the two universes.
Mickey Mouse collaborates with F1
Indeed, on this Tuesday, May 20, 2025, we have just learned that Mickey Mouse and the universe that revolves around the iconic Disney figure will be joining forces with the world of Formula 1 for a collaboration that has never been seen before. In a short video clip posted on the official X account of the big-eared company, we can see a single-seater vehicle performing skids that draw a Mickey Mouse head on the ground. The video is accompanied by a message stating that a new collaboration between Mickey and Friends and F1 will kick into high speed in 2026. pic.twitter.com/nryDG6FFyE

Offering F1 beyond sport thanks to Disney
This rather surprising collaboration aims to merge the world of Disney with that of F1, which is a niche market. For Emily Prazer, Formula 1's commercial director, the goal is to expand the appeal of F1 beyond sport:
Our collaboration with Disney is set to be brilliant, as it introduces the world of Mickey and his friends to our fans, and vice versa. This fits perfectly with our strategy of expanding our audience beyond sport, to a broader consumer market.
What does this collaboration entail? It could be that F1 fans will be able to take part in immersive Disney-themed activities during the Grand Prix or offer team-themed merchandise. For now, we don't know more. But this isn't the first time the American company has dabbled in the world of F1. In 2019, to promote the French Grand Prix, driver Antoine Hubert performed demos in his single-seater at Walt Disney Studios Park, which will soon become Disney Adventure World. It's worth remembering that the NBA has also collaborated with Marvel, as has the NFL, the National Football League, with SpongeBob SquarePants.
