There are only a few weeks left until the arrival of Elden Ring Nightreign on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. As a spin-off of FromSoftware's masterful Elden Ring, this cooperative title, a clever mix of Rogue-Lite and Battle Royale PvE, is one of the biggest releases of May 2025. After a Network Test held in January, allowing us to briefly try it out, the talented Japanese studio and its publisher Bandai are now offering us an Overview Trailer, just to prepare us well before the fight against the Lord of the Night.
Briefing du gameplay d'Elden Ring Nightreign avant sa sortie
Elden Ring Nightreign is indeed presented above all as a cooperative game (even if it is possible to tackle it solo), inviting a group of three fighters to launch runs in order to defeat the forces of the Lord of the Night. This will be in the form of a standalone version of the original game, priced at 39.99 euros in its standard edition, and expected on May 30, 2025. This title will therefore depart from a vast open world to explore with a character created by us. Instead, we will be treated to games of approximately 30 minutes to an hour in the Limveld region, a map with more modest dimensions, controlling eight predefined heroes, each with unique skills, which are as follows:
- Ranger: a warrior equipped with a grappling hook and a hand cannon
- Guardian: an aquiline knight using his intact wing to control the battlefield
- Anchorite: a magician mixing elements to create unique and powerful spells
- Duchess: an agile thief capable of manipulating time and cloaking her allies
- The Iron Eye: an archer capable of devastating shots
- Raider: a powerful Viking warrior capable of making stone emerge from the ground
- Executioner: a katana-wielding fighter specializing in parrying
- Revenant: a summoner using Ashes of War to support his team
Between Rogue-Lite and Battle Royale against the Night
Elden Ring Nightreign aims to offer a mix between Rogue-Lite and Battle Royale. Each game starts with a level 1 character, which you will have to develop by going to different points of interest to obtain equipment, skills, or other things. The experience accumulated will allow you to level up, also in a predefined way.
However, you will have to make decisions on the fly, because over time, a Ring of Fire typical of Battle Royale will narrow the explorable areas, until it tightens at night towards a boss arena. You will have two nights to survive before facing one of the most powerful servants of the Lord of the Night, the final bosses of each run. Whether your game of Elden Ring Nightreign ends in victory or failure, you will return to the hub with relics to power up your characters, representing the Rogue-Lite aspect of the game.
You can also use the currency earned during your games to purchase jars containing unlockable relics, or costumes for each character. It is also possible to recover memories of the latter to learn their story, and reveal new objectives in your future games to make them even more powerful.
You are now armed with the knowledge necessary to launch yourself into the fight against the forces of the Night Lord coming May 30 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
