Galaxy Z Flip7 FE: Samsung reportedly still gets confused over pricing

As the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 slowly approaches, another long-awaited model has been making waves. For several years, rumors of a slimmed-down version of the folding clamshell smartphone have been circulating. The profile of what could be the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is starting to take shape.

The Greek website Techmaniacs reveals a large part of the specifications of the upcoming phone. This would strongly resemble that of the Galaxy Z Flip 6, released in July 2024. If Samsung does indeed choose the name "FE", such a resemblance would not be surprising. Indeed, the name FE, for Fan Edition, refers to Samsung's cheaper smartphones that recycle parts of previous phones.

A price under 1000 euros?

According to information from Techmaniacs, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE would have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, the most powerful of 2024, to put it quickly, coupled with 12 GB of RAM. Its battery would have a capacity of 4000 mAh with 25 W wired charging and 15 W wireless charging. Its two cameras would have 50 Mpx and 12 Mpx sensors.

All this strongly recalls the Z Flip 6's specifications, as we said, but one element would stand out: the price.

Indeed, if the Z Flip 6 was sold at its release for the modest (not at all) sum of 1199 euros, the Z Flip 7 FE could fall below the 1000 euro mark upon its launch. A price that one might think is advantageous, but that is forgetting the steep discount that applies to the Android phone market. On Samsung's website, the Z Flip 6 is currently trading at 800 euros. We could therefore see a Z Flip 7 FE with a Z Flip 6's specifications sheet released with a price higher than the latter.

This problem is unfortunately quite recurrent at Samsung, which usually unveils a Galaxy S FE in the second quarter with a price higher than the model it is inspired by. The Korean company must undoubtedly find its way there, relying on its very strong brand image and on the ambiguity of the term FE which can quickly be ignored by buyers who are not well informed on the subject.
