When reading certain online content, you may come across somewhat complex topics that you don't understand and that prevent you from fully understanding a subject. To avoid this, Google has developed a brand new tool whose goal is to help you understand what you're reading by simplifying the text to make it more digestible. All without omitting the most important details. Simplify, the name of this new AI tool, is integrated directly into the Google app.
Only available on iOS
For now, this new utility is only accessible from the iOS version of the Google app. Concretely, this function simplifies any somewhat dense text containing complex content, such as elements or technical jargon that you don't understand.
Using the module is also very simple. Simply select any text displayed on a webpage opened in the Google app to bring up the Simplify button. After tapping it, Google's AI will reformulate the text into a simplified version to help you quickly understand the themes and other technical elements you don't understand. This way, you can continue reading without stumbling over concepts you don't understand.
The Simplify feature, which was developed by Google Research teams, uses Gemini to make complex texts more digestible, without removing important details.
Simplify is currently rolling out to the Google app on iOS. Google hasn't specified whether the tool will be restricted to certain countries, so it should be available to all users in the coming days. At the time of writing, Simplify was not yet available on our iPhone.
