Rockstar has hit hard by unveiling an explosive new trailer and updating the official GTA 6 website. Through this communication from the studio, the storyline, characters, and explorable areas are taking shape.
Supporting characters, areas to visit, GTA 6 reveals its storyline
Yesterday, Rockstar delivered the second trailer for GTA 6. A trailer very different from the first since it focuses more on the story (see our analysis of the trailer here), and the future misfortunes of the duo Jason and Lucia in a Vice City more decadent than ever. The two lovebirds who are about to experience a Bonnie & Clyde-style adventure will be accompanied by a whole gallery of clichéd characters. A point that Rockstar has mastered since the beginnings of the GTA license.
Following on from the trailer, Rockstar has filled the official GTA VI website with a detailed description of each character, as well as the six explorable zones. With a polished design, the page will require you to scroll to learn about this entire universe, which is intended to be an extreme parody of Florida and its vices.
The Characters - Cal Hampton
Presented as Jason's best friend, Cal Hampton is this vulgar but endearing friend. Paranoid, gullible, and probably a fan of conspiracy theories, this character symbolizes those left behind, "at the bottom of the American ladder." But adept at tinkering with computers, he will undoubtedly prove useful in remotely helping Jason and Lucia in their missions. A bit like Lester in GTA V.
Boobie Ike
A GTA game is nothing without its strip clubs and not always very clean music labels, just like the man who pulls the strings. In GTA 6, Boobie Ike will be this crooked businessman who has managed to build an empire thanks to his criminal activities. We can already imagine doing his dirty work to line our pockets quickly.
Dre'Quand Priest
A rapper in the bosom of Boobie's label, Dre'Quand Priest embodies this artist with a difficult past who hopes to break into the rap world, and become a legend in Vice City. A character that echoes that of OG Loc in GTA: San Andreas, a young, lost rapper who hoped to climb the ladder.
Real Dimez
Bae-Luxe and Roxy form this duo of hot female rappers and influencers, attached to Boobie Ike and his label Only Raw Records, as well as to De'Quan Priest. So many characters that prove that Rockstar will give a prominent place to music and the ruthless world of American rap in its next hit.
Raul Bautista
It definitely needed a robbery ace in this gallery of colorful characters. A character played by Raul Bautista, presented as a "veteran of bank robberies always looking for partners" to pull off bad tricks again. The latest trailer for GTA 6 was not short on explosive sequences. We strongly suspect that our hero duo will be up to mischief with Raul.
Brian Heder
Revealed in the first minutes of the trailer, Brian Heder is a drug dealer who graciously houses Jason in the Keys in exchange for odd jobs. We suspect that he won't just be repairing the roofs of the archipelago's dilapidated houses. Brian should be one of the very first characters Jason meets. On the agenda: extortion missions, transporting illicit substances, and other dirty tricks to get the adventure off to a good start.
Locations - Vice City
The heart of the game. The main area of Vice City includes this city bathed in eternal sunshine, bathed in neon lights, but plagued by greed. Between the trendy neighborhoods of the city center, its fine sandy beaches, its hotter neighborhoods, and its immense port, Vice City promises to be gigantic and pleasant to explore. A wide variety of neighborhoods to explore is on the horizon.
Leonida Keys
Inspired by the Keys archipelago south of Miami, Leonida Keys will undoubtedly be the starting area of the game. The one where Jason lives and where he will begin his first thefts for Brian. The images reveal a place bordered by sand expanses, beach houses, Latino bars, and a huge underwater area. On this point, Rockstar seems to have paid particular attention to the seabed, and will allow for more in-depth exploration. With undoubtedly dynamic flora and fauna. An element that we eagerly await to discover.
Grassrivers
For its part, the Grassrivers area is inspired by the famous Florida Everglades, a huge swampy area located in the southwest of the state. A muddy and sticky area filled with secrets, according to Rockstar. Alligators, hunters, and strange discoveries are on the agenda. The images reveal a port area composed of bars and restaurants on stilts, as well as a police chase in the swamps. It's promising.
Port Gellhorn
Here too, the insiders were right. The GTA 6 map will indeed include a poorer area called Port Gellhorn. Described as a suburban area with seedy motels, abandoned amusement parks, and deserted commercial areas, Port Gellhorn represents Leonida's past, and makes sense with the shift of the population and tourists to Vice City. A very disturbing area where threats lurk around every corner.
Ambrosia
Rural America and its traditional conservative values are the fertile ground for Ambrosia. A remote area of Vice City with its refineries, factories, and expanses of cornfields run by biker gangs.
Mount Kalaga
Sixth and final location in Leonida: Mount Kalaga, the rural area in the north of the map where nature reigns. A biome Rockstar is familiar with. First with the counties of Red and Flint Country in San Andreas, then Mount Chiliad in GTA V. An area that will bring real diversity and a breath of fresh air to the player. But beware, Mount Kalaga hides disturbing characters in its undergrowth, notably described as paranoid extremists. In short, danger will be everywhere in Leonida.
With six large areas revealed, very different from each other and forming a very coherent whole (on paper), Rockstar has done a huge amount of work on this new map, which promises to be simply gigantic.
