Unpredictable weather in GTA 6? Storms and hurricanes could limit access to certain areas of the map and change the environment.
At the beginning of May, Rockstar released a second trailer for GTA 6. In this one, we see a scene in a bar, with a sign that says “Hurricane”, or “Hurricane” in French. Is this a hidden message? Previous rumors claimed that weather conditions would be important in the game, which could even feature natural disaster events. This theory gains weight with this trailer.
On Reddit and X (Twitter), some users point out that in Vice City, a hurricane alert closed access to a bridge, thus limiting the player's movements. Access to this part of the map was then unlocked by progressing through the story. Since GTA 6 is inspired by the same city (Miami) as Vice City, Rockstar could once again use this strategy to prevent us from going wherever we want from the start of the game.
How important is the weather in GTA 6?
In Vice City, it was easier to control the perimeter in which the player could move, because the character was unable to swim. He therefore had to use the bridge to go further. This may be more difficult in GTA 6, but a system of invisible walls or death due to the hurricane could block players who try to go to an area where they are not (yet) supposed to go. We can even imagine that certain parts of the map, initially inaccessible due to hurricanes, will be added via an update after the game's release.
Internet users are especially hoping that the supposed extreme weather conditions will be exploited in certain missions of the game, and that we will be able to realize the consequences of the passage of a storm, tornado or hurricane in the environment. If it hasn't been delayed yet, GTA 6 will be released on May 26, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series. We'll then be able to check out all these theories with a controller in hand.
GTA 6 will have HURRICANES. 🌀
In GTA Vice City, the bridges were closed at the beginning of the game due to a hurricane warning. Similarly, hurricanes might restrict full map access in GTA 6. pic.twitter.com/G9lHNNVdHV
