Scheduled for release on June 10th on PS5, MindsEye continues to be talked about... without really revealing anything. Developed by Build A Rocket Boy, the studio founded by Leslie Benzies (former producer of GTA), this single-player narrative action game was highly anticipated. But a few weeks before its release, we still don't really know what to expect. And the latest gameplay video, barely 30 seconds long, doesn't help. This all comes shortly after the latest leaks.
A trailer that shows little for MindsEye
In this short clip from MindsEye, we see shooting sequences, driving, and some urban settings. Visually, it holds up. But everything is put together at a frenetic pace, without context or real staging. In short, we can guess the broad outlines (third-person action, futuristic atmosphere), but we don't understand much about the game itself. No indication of the structure, nor the tone, nor the mechanics.
Since its announcement, MindsEye has adopted a rather discreet communication style. This silence is intriguing. Especially for a game that is supposed to be narrative, single-player, and ambitious, and which is coming very soon. Some see it as a strategic choice, a way to create mystery. Others are worried. Especially since the first gameplay leaks, which occurred recently, left a mixed impression. Rigid animation, somewhat generic action... nothing catastrophic, but not necessarily reassuring either.
Opinions are divided
Players are curious, but cautious about MindsEye. Some are talking about a game that smells like an old-school "B-movie": imperfect, but fun. Others are already thinking about waiting for a big promotion or a quick arrival in PS Plus. The name Leslie Benzies is obviously generating interest. But for many, MindsEye currently seems like a vague project that doesn't really say what it is. An action game? An open world? A linear narrative experience? For now, it's impossible to decide.
With less than a month to go until launch (June 10, 2025), MindsEye remains an enigma. The trailer doesn't reassure, but it doesn't put us off either. And that's perhaps what makes the project so fascinating; we don't know if it will be a good surprise... or a big disappointment.
