J.K. Rowling's magical world will soon return with a new adaptation, this time in the form of a series, with its share of pitfalls to avoid. HBO is preparing a more detailed version of the adventures of Harry Potter and his friends, which will include many details from the novels left out of the films due to lack of time. This song from the books could (and should) become a ritual at the beginning of each season, and we'll explain why.
HBO: Harry Potter, a series under scrutiny
When HBO announced the start of a Harry Potter series, not even fifteen years after the theatrical release of Deathly Hallows Part 2, fans greeted the news with caution. Not only is the Warner Bros. saga highly regarded, having instantly gained cult status, but the need for such a reboot, so soon after the first adaptation, is far from proven. To justify the wizard's premature return to our screens, the American network will have to offer audiences a fresh glimpse of the story, and not repeat the content of the films to the letter. Fans have expressed their desire to see this moving scene from Harry Potter, but it's not the only example of how the HBO series can differentiate itself from the film franchise.
The Sorting Hat Song, a Desired Musical Addition
In the novels, J.K. Rowling wrote the lyrics for a song, sung by the Sorting Hat to the Hogwarts students at the annual party where they are sorted into each of the four Houses - Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. It's different every year, and it's a kind of musical ritual. The Sorting Hat explains its role, how it was bewitched to sort the first-year students, and also the characteristics of each House. Making it the introductory song for each new season of the HBO series would add to the magical aspect of this universe, but also respond to a public demand. The success of Disney is largely due to the presence of catchy songs, to name just a few, and Harry Potter could benefit from this addition.
And you, what do you think?
