After many years of waiting, a new NieR game may soon be announced with great fanfare. Meanwhile, Square Enix's cult franchise from the genius mind of Yoko Taro made an indirect appearance at PAX East, which could please fans missing the excellent Automata.
NieR Automata indirectly highlighted again in surprise announcement
Four years after the "Remakster" of NieR Replicant and eight years after Automata, we may finally be getting a sequel soon. Square Enix and Yoko Taro seem to be preparing for an announcement in this regard soon, for example at Summer Game Fest 2025. Until then, PAX East was in full swing last week, and the franchise was the subject of another unexpected surprise.
After a crossover between NieR Automata and Stellar Blade, the iconic title developed by Platinum Games and published by Square Enix has indeed split another collaboration, this time with The First Descendant. NEXON's Warframe-like will soon welcome its third season, with a host of new features. Among these, a new region, a new Descendant, a new vehicle, new endgame content and features, and therefore a crossover in the form of cosmetics related to NieR Automata.
NEXON should tell us more soon with a proper trailer for Season 3, coming soon to The First Descendant. Regarding the collaboration with Automata, this will take the form of cosmetics for existing Descendants, and more specifically the appearances of 2B and 2A, in various configurations. As with Stellar Blade, this collaboration between The First Descendant and NieR will take the form of paid cosmetics. However, we will have to wait for a full announcement to know the true content.
