Nintendo Switch: A much-loved feature disappears, angering players

In less than a month from today, a new era will begin for Nintendo, which will officially mark the launch of its Nintendo Switch 2. And while waiting for the big day to arrive, the Japanese company is slowly but surely beginning to prepare the ground. Revealed alongside its new console, the new virtual game card system, for example, was deployed through a recent update. The problem is that this also led to the disappearance of a feature widely used by some players.

A feature disappears on Nintendo Switch

Indeed, as some Internet users have reported, it is no longer possible for two players sharing their library to play the same game online simultaneously on two different consoles. This feature, although available since the launch of the Switch, has apparently been discreetly removed by Nintendo with the latest patch deployed at the end of April. This is probably a way for the company to further regulate account sharing, a bit like SVOD services.

"So virtual game cards are a downgrade," one user on ResetEra bitterly noted. "My wife and I played hundreds of hours of Splatoon 3 and Animal Crossing together thanks to a single digital purchase," another laments. Fortunately, however, it seems that games that don't necessarily require an online connection are not affected by this problem. However, you must be careful to play offline for this to work, otherwise problems may arise.
