After celebrating Luffy's birthday in style, it's time for everyone to return to the battlefield of Elbaf Island. In Chapter 1148, the fight against the Divine Knights continues, but takes an unexpected turn, thanks in part to Scopper Gaban.
One Piece 1148: A Risky Rescue
Chapter 1147 showed our heroes and their allies in a very complicated situation. Indeed, Gunko managed to defeat his adversaries, and Sommers revealed the Divine Knights' motives for kidnapping the giants' children. The chapter, however, gave us a glimmer of hope by revealing these antagonists' greatest fear: Luffy. Chapter 1148 intends to continue this momentum with a twist that could change everything.
WARNING: SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 1148 JUST BELOW
Following her crushing victory against the Mugiwara, Gunko brings Ronia, a young giantess introduced in the previous chapter, to the edge of a cliff and threatens to eliminate her if the giants do not obey the Divine Knights. Gunko once again demonstrates his inhumanity and coldness, further reinforcing the mystery surrounding this character.
While Gunko attacks Ronia, Sommers is attacked by Robin, determined to free the children from his grasp. Yarl also acts in his own way by ordering Ange to burn down the school. An intense fight then begins between Robin and Sommers. The woman initially manages to imprison him with her arms, but the Divine Knight manages to free himself and touch her with his thorns. Problem: it was only a clone, the real Robin having left to save her companions.
Sommers doesn't abandon his target and pursues Robin. He manages to find her and sets a trap for her. As he prepares to launch an assault, Scopper Gaban appears and slices off his hand. Incredibly, Sommers is injured and unable to regenerate. The chapter then ends with this event, leaving us on a spectacular cliffhanger that could well change the course of the battle. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait to find out more, as One Piece will be on hiatus next week.
