Last year, Prince of Persia made its grand return to the spotlight with not one, but two new projects. The excellent The Lost Crown developed by Ubisoft Montpellier on one hand, and the unexpected The Rogue of Prince of Persia developed by Evil Empire on the other. Better still, after many years of silence, the highly anticipated remake of The Sands of Time also finally gave us some news, with a new teaser revealing its new release window. A release window that, today, is becoming even more precise.
The release date of the Prince of Persia remake is becoming clearer
Indeed, as is customary, Ubisoft took advantage of its latest financial report to take stock of its program for the coming years. And while the company revealed that it has decided to extend the development of certain titles to ensure that they receive the greatest possible care, it also took the opportunity to reveal the list of certain titles expected for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. A list notably composed of Rainbow Six Mobile, The Division Resurgence, Anno 117: Pax Romana… and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time!
In other words, if all goes according to plan, this means that the remake should be available before March 31, 2026 at the latest. That's less than a year from today. This significantly reduces the range communicated by the publisher last year, where we were only given a vague 2026. And the fact that such an announcement comes just a few cables away from the summer conferences can then give us good hope of seeing Prince of Persia The Sands of Time make a new appearance there.
A project with chaotic development
In any case, one thing is certain: Prince of Persia fans are impatient to see more. As a reminder, the remake of The Sands of Time, announced in September 2020, was initially scheduled for release in January 2021. Following the strong criticism received by the trailer, the title was nevertheless delayed for a long time. Moreover, while it was initially developed by Ubisoft Pune, the title finally returned to the hands of Ubisoft Montreal, creators of the original version released in 2003.
