The Snapdragon Summit, the major annual event organized by Qualcomm traditionally in Hawaii (we've seen worse), will be held this year from September 23 to 25. The dates were confirmed by the company during its Computex keynote, which opened this week in Taiwan.
Waiting for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2
Last year, the event took place on October 21. Qualcomm will therefore unveil its future chips a month earlier, which should accelerate the market launch of future smartphones and laptops equipped with these new engines. Usually, the Snapdragon Summit is the opportunity for the American group to launch its most high-end chips. What will happen at the 2025 edition?
We are, of course, waiting for news of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, the first rumors of which date back to March. This smartphone chip should retain an 8-core configuration (6 energy efficiency cores, 2 performance cores), while offering a significant gain (+26% on an AnTuTu test). The Adreno graphics circuit should offer a gain of 30%.
The first smartphones equipped with this chip could therefore arrive as early as October: rumors already mention the Xiaomi 16, OnePlus 15 and other Realme GT8 Pro. Samsung should also use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 for the future Galaxy S26… but perhaps not in Europe, which would be satisfied with the Exynos 2600.
In the laptop department, it is possible that Qualcomm will lift the veil on the second generation of the Snapdragon X Elite (X2 Elite?), the current version of which dates back to April 2024. However, not all the indiscretions are convinced; Some are indeed talking about a launch in 2026.
