Since the beginning, the Prime Video series derived from the Lord of the Rings struggles to convince. Despite its polished aesthetic and colossal potential audience, Amazon's recipe isn't a success. The emotion shown by the characters on screen is often considered by Internet users to be either miscast or overemphasized. The season 2 finale, in which Sauron brutally murders the blacksmith Celebrimbor, played by Charles Edwards, with a fatal arrow, seems to have been harder for the actors to film than for the viewers to watch. In an interview with Deadline, the actor reflected on a difficult experience.

Tasked by Annatar, one of Sauron's many identities, to forge the Rings, Celebrimbor kicks the bucket once his task is accomplished. And while these scenes with Sauron were hard to shoot, the atmosphere on set allowed the actor to unwind between takes.

This season's script was difficult, but we overcame it by having a lot of fun on set. When we weren't working—and when we were, too—there was a really friendly and joyful atmosphere. [...] This was felt not only by us, but also by everyone who was working on this storyline.It was just Charlie and me in this story. In a way, it was like a bubble compared to the rest of the show. So everyone was focused on that during the months of filming, and the atmosphere off set really supported and informed what we were doing on camera.
