It's simple, but you had to think of it. With One UI, Samsung is integrating a new feature for the My Files app, which makes it much faster to find your way around when looking for a specific file.
Samsung has started rolling out a first beta version of One UI 8 for the Galaxy S25. While the manufacturer has communicated on several changes brought by the update, it has hidden some others, which it must have deemed minor, but which contribute to improving the experience of the interface of Galaxy devices on a daily basis.
One of these new features that has been overlooked is the introduction of an option to filter files by application in the My Files manager. Spotted by Android Authority, it allows you to select an application from those installed on your smartphone to more easily find a file you downloaded from it.
You will save time searching for a file on your Samsung smartphone
If you are drowning in files and have forgotten the name of the one you are looking for, this little function should be very useful. We would not be surprised to see it soon on overlays from competing brands, as it is so obvious. We know that Google can take years to integrate a feature developed by third-party manufacturers into the native version of Android, but we can also hope that the Californian firm will be a little more responsive this time.
When will you be able to take advantage of this new feature? The One UI 8 beta should be made available on a few recent premium devices in the coming weeks. The first models to launch directly under One UI 8 will be Samsung's next foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, expected sometime in July. After that, the stable version of the update should arrive on our smartphones gradually. We don't have an exact deployment schedule, but you can check the list of smartphones compatible with One UI 8 through this link to see if your phone is eligible.
