Unlike the Assassin's Creed franchise, Splinter Cell is having a hard time getting back into the spotlight. While its remake still seems to be on the cards, even if its true progress remains unclear, nothing else can be said about it. A VR game has already been canceled, while the live-action Splinter Cell film starring Tom Hardy was also completely abandoned, due to script and budget issues. However, Fisherman Sam will return at an unspecified date with the animated series SC Deathwatch, exclusively on Netflix. In the meantime, a surprise update for this much-loved game is available.

Will Splinter Cell Remake end up being canceled too? For now, it's not on the table. In an article dated October 10, 2024, our colleagues at Insider Gaming stated that the game is still in development and is progressing, contrary to rumors that have circulated. Sources have suggested a release could take place in 2026, but Ubisoft has not commented on this rumor.
So while the saga is struggling to get back on track, an unexpected update for one of the best games, Splinter Cell Blacklist, has been released on PC via Steam. What's new after 12 years? Those who like to polish their titles from A to Z, and who are looking to obtain all the achievements or trophies, will be served.
"We are pleased to announce that Steam achievements are now available for Splinter Cell: Blacklist! For your information, achievements will be obtained retroactively for those already obtained in your game. For synchronization to take place, you must launch the game once. Once synchronized, previously unlocked Ubisoft Connect achievements will be automatically unlocked on Steam" can be read on the title's page. And to have 100% on Splinter Cell Blacklist, Ubisoft has removed 19 achievements that were linked to online features.
