Netflix is ramping up its communications campaign surrounding the release of season 3 of Squid Game. A first video teaser whets our appetite for the series' conclusion.
Earlier this year, Netflix confirmed the release date for season 3 of Squid Game, which will air on the streaming platform starting June 27, 2025. This will be the very last season of the South Korean series, which will consist of six episodes. And with less than two months to go until its release, we finally have the first official video teaser to sink our teeth into.
“Let the Final Games Begin”. Running for one minute and 25 seconds, this teaser tells us that Season 3 takes place immediately after the events of Season 2 (which isn't surprising given how that season ended). We see new games, and the video ends with a baby crying. Again, nothing surprising, as Season 2 introduced us to the character of Kim Jun-hee, a pregnant woman.
Squid Game Season 3 will conclude the series
"After the devastating cliffhanger of Season 2, Season 3 plunges Gi-hun (Player 456) back into the brutal heart of the games, determined to dismantle them once and for all. Still haunted by betrayal and the loss of his closest ally, Jung-bae (Player 390), Gi-hun faces new dangers, including the Front Man, who has infiltrated their rebellion under the name Player 001," Netflix says.
As a reminder, Season 2 of Squid Game aired in December 2024, after more than three years of waiting. Season 1 quickly established itself as one of the most popular series of all time on Netflix, becoming a true social phenomenon. Squid Game season 2 broke ratings records, but the reception from viewers was mixed, and many were not convinced by the plot of this sequel. We can only hope that season 3 manages to give fans a satisfying ending.
2025 will see another cult Netflix series come to an end. Stranger Things season 5 will also be the last, but the exact release date is not yet known.
