The Nintendo Switch 2 is coming in just under three weeks. Starting on June 5th, gamers around the world will have the chance to experience this new console right in their living rooms. One of the main disappointments is the lack of an OLED screen. For this new console, Nintendo is opting for an LCD panel.
With the first Nintendo Switch model, Nintendo opted for an LED screen for its Standard (2017) and Lite (2019) versions. In 2021, the manufacturer released an OLED Switch that brought a real visual gap with a much better quality screen. This is why many gamers are quite disappointed to see that Nintendo is abandoning this resolution for this Switch 2. Although the LCD screen should offer a much better rendering and quite close to the OLED.
In any case, it seems that the Switch 2 OLED is already in the manufacturer's boxes, and that Samsung could be the main partner who will take care of the processors and screens.
Nintendo Switch 2 OLED: the new version already in the boxes?
According to information from Bloomberg, Samsung is already reportedly designing processors for the new Switch 2 for Nintendo, and a partnership is reportedly in place between the two manufacturers. Apparently, Samsung would also like to produce new OLED screens for a future version of the machine.
Excerpt from the Bloomberg report
Also according to Bloomberg, it seems that Samsung is currently pressuring Nintendo to produce OLED screens in addition to processors: "The Korean company has also been pushing for OLED panels to be used when Nintendo refreshes the Switch 2 in the future, another person said.".
It is not yet known if Nintendo is already planning to offer new versions of its Switch 2, but apparently, Samsung is already talking about a "refresh of the Switch 2 in the future." It would be very surprising if Nintendo did not deploy the same strategy with its Switch 2 as the original Switch, especially if it is successful.
