Samsung is finally launching the Tap to Transfer feature in the United States, after presenting it earlier this year during the Unpacked event dedicated to the Galaxy S25. Like Apple's Tap to Cash, which it is a replica of, Tap to Transfer is a simple way to exchange money between the brand's smartphones.
Pay with a tap
Samsung has worked with Visa and Mastercard to offer the widest compatibility with a maximum number of bank cards (debit only). The card must be registered in the smartphone's Wallet app; the transfer between two devices is done via their NFC chip, provided that both users have their cards in the Wallet... or not: unlike Apple's version, which is locked into the Apple ecosystem, Tap to Transfer is not limited to Samsung. The information is indeed linked to the bank card, so it will work with other digital wallets.
If the recipient does not have a Samsung smartphone, they can still use a contactless-compatible card, which they can hold close to their smartphone to transfer money from the card to the device. Just like on the payment terminal at the supermarket checkout.
It is also possible to send money to a remote recipient with a Samsung Wallet, simply by entering their phone number. Depending on the bank, the transferred funds will appear quickly, after a few seconds or minutes.
