The Last of Us 2 dazzles us on PC
In 2020, The Last of Us 2 was named game of the year at The Game Awards and in many other ceremonies rewarding video game productions. At the time, the Naughty Dog title was only available in PS4 version. Since then, it has been remastered on PS5, the PC port of which was released last month. Some have therefore seized it to make us rediscover the game in an impressive way.
The internet user Beyond Dreams, well known for boosting PC games using mods, proves to us in one of his latest videos that The Last of Us 2 can go even further than what the PS5 Pro offers. Pushed to 8K by an RTX 5090 card, it pushes its performance thanks to several tools. In fact, the use of a ray tracing shader and reshade preset adapted to the title offer a spectacular graphic transformation.
Indeed, the Beyond Dreams video captivates immediately thanks to ray tracing. The light bounces sumptuously on the flora and the whole benefits from a more contrasted rendering which adds an interesting touch to the Naughty Dog title. Even the textures benefit here from an accentuated realism, particularly striking on the characters. At times, we arrive at an almost photographic rendering.
Furthermore, this version shines in that it skillfully manages to circumvent the engine's limitations for such almost native ray tracing rendering. In short, Beyond Dreams applies a “simple” post-processing treatment. In addition, the optimization it recommends manages to run even on slightly older graphics cards. In the comments, we can read that a user managed to run The Last of Us 2 very smoothly by adapting the DLSS 4 settings for an RTX 4070. So many of you will be able to enjoy it!
