A few days ago, Rockstar Games confirmed the delay of Grand Theft Auto VI to May 26, 2026. A chilling announcement, without any images, just a few lines of text, to break the bad news to players and fans. Today, it's time for a surprise with a second trailer released without warning.
This trailer even caused the publisher's website to implode, and despite an initially low view count on YouTube, the trailer generated a massive reaction with more than 1.9 million "likes" and hundreds of thousands of comments in a few hours, testifying to the fans' enthusiasm!
Grand Theft Auto VI: Welcome Back to Vice City
After the first trailer on December 5, 2023, which literally exploded on the internet, Rockstar Games is giving us a new glimpse of its game with a second trailer of more than 2 minutes 40 seconds. The opportunity to discover Lucia Caminos, Jason Duval, the first characters of GTA 6, but also a new glimpse of the state of Leonida, which promises to be gigantic.
The game will allow us to play as Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, a couple of bandits who find themselves at the center of a criminal conspiracy. Jason is a young man who grew up surrounded by hustlers and con artists. He ended up in the Keys doing what he does best: working for local drug dealers.
Meanwhile, Lucia struggled to support her family. Eventually, she ended up in Leonida Penitentiary. She owes her escape to luck. More than anything, Lucia wants the happy life her mother has dreamed of since they left Liberty City. Fresh out of prison and determined to turn things around, Lucia hasn't lost sight of her plan: she's ready to do anything to have her dream life.
GTA 6 will allow us to discover the state of Leonida, the city of Vice City, but also many emblematic places like the Keys of Leonida, offering many paradise islands. A tropical archipelago, life is simple and undisturbed. You will be able to discover the swamps of Grassrivers, where alligators will be the main attraction.
The small town of Port Gellhorn is the forgotten corner of Leonida, with its seedy motels, abandoned amusement parks, and deserted commercial areas. Conversely, it will be possible to visit Ambrosia, a refined part of Leonida highlighting American industry and old-world values. And finally, there will be Mount Kalaga, a wilderness region to fill up on fresh air in the far north of the state.
Of course, what would a GTA be without the wacky characters you'll meet during your adventure? GTA 6 will be no exception. Jason and Lucia will be accompanied by several companions, such as Brian Heder, an ordinary drug dealer who experienced the golden age of smuggling in the Keys. He is a friend of Jason, who graciously lets him live in one of his properties, as long as he agrees to help him with his extortions.
Then we have Cal Hampton, a friend of Jason and another associate of Brian. Cal prefers to stay safe at home, intercepting Coast Guard communications with a few beers and as many private browsing tabs.
Bae-Luxe and Roxy, two high school friends who had enough gumption to go from racketeering local drug dealers to something more lucrative thanks to their racy rap tracks and omnipresence on social media.
Other villains from Vice City and Leonida include Raul Bautista, a veteran bank robber who's always looking for partners willing to risk big to win big. Boobie Ike, a true Vice City legend, and one of the few to have turned his criminal activity into a true legal empire that includes real estate, a strip club, and a recording studio.
Finally, there's Dre'Quan, who has always been more of a schemer than a gangster. He signed the Real Dimez and hopes to end his gigs at Boobie's strip club and integrate into the Vice City music scene.
Grand Theft Auto VI is now expected on May 26, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
