Are you one of the many gamers who have succumbed to the call of digital? Are you team Apple rather than Android? Is Apple Pay your preferred service for your online purchases? In that case, this article is specifically for you. Indeed, while it was previously unavailable, the ability to purchase games on PS5 via Apple's in-house service has finally made its appearance. And at a time when the American giant's ecosystem is ever-expanding, this will certainly make people happy.
Apple Pay is coming to PS5
You'll notice if you go to the PS5 store right now, a new option dedicated to Apple Pay is available. And using it is very simple. When you make your purchase, select the option in question and a unique code will be displayed on the screen. Scan it using your iPhone or iPad, then go to the app, which will open on the device in question. From there, select your payment card, then validate the transaction using the authentication service you chose.
That's it. You can now download your game to PS5 and get started. However, there are two important things to note. First, for this to work, you must have a device with at least iOS 18 or iPadOS 18. Earlier versions are not supported. Furthermore, at the time of writing, this payment option only appears to be available on PS5. We will therefore have to wait for a potential update before being able to enjoy it on PS4, if it is even planned.
The PlayStation 5 continues to update
This is very pleasing after the last update deployed at the end of April for the PS5. As a reminder, this one came with multiple new features for users, starting with the much-requested return of classic custom themes. Launched in December 2024 before being retired, these offered the possibility of putting your console in the colors of previous generations of PlayStation, from the PS1 to the PS4. And yes, this obviously includes the iconic jingle that marked the history of Sony's first console. Nostalgia, when you hold us.
