Samsung is preparing the arrival of its next foldable phones. While the improvements remain discreet, one model is finally benefiting from a long-awaited gain. Battery capacity is increasing, but only for one of the two devices.

This foldable Samsung smartphone finally gets the battery life users have been asking for

Foldable smartphones are gaining ground, and Samsung remains the leader in this growing segment. Every year, users hope for concrete improvements, particularly in terms of battery life. Because while these innovative models are appealing in their design, their limited battery often remains a weak point, especially when faced with increasingly demanding uses.

For its Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 expected this summer, Samsung is preparing to partially correct the situation. According to a certification spotted at UL Demko by The Tech Outlook, the former will benefit from a larger battery than its predecessor. On the other hand, the second one hardly evolves at this level, despite potentially more power-hungry components.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 goes to 4,300 mAh battery, the Z Fold 7 remains almost unchanged

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has two batteries (1,189 mAh and 2,985 mAh), for a combined minimum capacity of 4,174 mAh. Samsung should officially announce it at 4,300 mAh, compared to 4,000 mAh for the Z Flip 6. This increase should result in a more comfortable battery life, which addresses one of the major criticisms of flip phone users. The Galaxy Z Fold 7, for its part, retains almost the same capacity: 4,272 mAh compared to 4,400 mAh commercially announced, as for the previous model.

Both models retain wired charging of 25 W and wireless charging of 15 W, without improvement at this level. However, the external screens should be larger and the devices thinner. The Z Flip 7 could integrate a 4-inch secondary screen. The Z Fold 7, for its part, would aim for the high-end with a 200 MP main sensor and a revised under-screen camera. They are expected to launch under Android 16 (One UI 8.0), with a new chip that is more efficient and less energy-consuming to try to compensate for the slow evolution of the batteries.
