The latest Galaxy S25 update is starting to roll out in several regions. It doesn't contain the improvements some expected, but it does fix some key issues.
For several years, Samsung smartphones have benefited from monthly software updates that strengthen their security and extend their lifespan. This update schedule, particularly for high-end models like the Galaxy S25, is one of the brand's strengths. After rolling out One UI 7 to several older models, the brand is continuing its efforts by releasing the May 2025 security patch. This was first released in the United States at the beginning of the month, before gradually being extended to other regions.
The firmware referenced under the name AYDA was recently spotted in Thailand, India and several Asian countries. The update is expected to arrive in Europe and on American unlocked versions in the coming days. The file weighs a little over 670 MB, which could suggest a major update. However, no functional changes are visible after installation. To check its availability, simply go to Settings > Software Update > Download and install.
The May patch for the Galaxy S25 fixes more than 20 high-severity vulnerabilities>
Samsung has confirmed that this update is only intended to enhance system security. It fixes more than 20 high-severity vulnerabilities, but no critical flaws are mentioned in the official bulletin. Since the April patch was delivered with some delay, the May patch is a catch-up, but without adding any new features. Overall performance and battery life remain unchanged, according to initial user feedback.
Several rumors suggested photo improvements, but they haven't materialized in this version. Samsung is expected to reserve these optimizations for a next summer update, expected between June and July. This is usually the time when more advanced camera adjustments are integrated, often in conjunction with new versions of the OS. Indeed, One UI 8 based on Android 16 could arrive sooner than expected, and it's not out of the question that the manufacturer will include more visible improvements.
